![]() ![]() Have you tried creating a bootable Windows 10 USB as I already suggested above and using it to start your machine and initiate the OS upgrade? Did that work?Īs I suspected, your motherboard runs a SATA controller by Marvell, which is most probably not included in the standard Windows 7 installation image. It's probably about 6 years old, which I wouldn't think should be at failure levels of old yet, but who knows. ![]() Ctrl-alt-del does nothing, nor does any other keyboard command I've tried.Īt this point do I have many options left, or should I just see if I can rescue whatever files I may want off the thing and call it a day? This is a 1TB Crucial SSD drive, in case that makes any difference. If I hit SHIFT 5x fast I *do* get the pop-up to enable sticky keys, but that's about the only other thing I can get it to respond to. I've also tried bootmgr.exe /fixmbr (and other commands), but I cannot get this dumb thing past the black screen w/mouse. I have a Rescue disk, so I've tried the "Startup Repair" (no issues found), and via the Command Line have tried sfc /scannow (initially said an repair was pending but once I got past that it's not finding any issues) and a chkdsk /f/r (which always freezes at step 4 of 5). My old Win7 desktop the other week started only booting to a plain, black screen with the mouse cursor visible (and movable), but nothing else. I'm assuming I'm probably out of most options but figured it was worth posting about.
